Our director Vincent Kitch talks about preserving cultural space. Performance artworks illustrate how local artists are contributing to the discussion about our local waterways. Kelly Pajek joins the public art team. We invite you to join the statewide campaign celebrating and promoting arts education for Arts Education Month. See artwork by members of the Columbia City Gallery at City Hall. Applications for our new Cultural Facilities Program will be available mid-May. And we’re hosting a free workshop, Hidden Hazards in the Arts, this Friday.

Image: Film still from Waterway by Britta Johnson, a stop-animation film about naturally filtering and cleaning water. The film is part of several temporary artworks that address environmental sustainability for The Next Fifty, the 50th anniversary of the 1962 World’s Fair. The performances run May 4 through May 27 at Seattle Center.
